In this edition of Pornhub Insights we’re joined by our friends at GQ to take a closer look at visitors from the U.K. capital of London. While Birmingham ranked 2nd for Pornhub traffic from within the U.K., London ranks 2nd among all worldwide cities, just behind New York. That’s an impressive number of porn lovers, seeing as London’s population ranks 22nd worldwide.

On average, visitors from London spend 9 minutes and 43 seconds each time they visit Pornhub, just 3 seconds longer than the U.K. average and 7 more than the world. Like most parts of Europe, the most popular time of day for Londoners to visit Pornhub is 10pm to 11pm, and Sunday is the most popular day of the week.

Because London accounts for over 20% of Pornhub’s U.K. visitors, the most popular search terms are quite similar to the country in general. “Lesbian” is the most popular search, followed by “step mom” and “MILF”. Interestingly, searches for “Indian” rank higher than “British”, and we once again see a large number of searches for “british chav” which we had previous taken a more in-depth look at.

Lesbian is also the most popular category of videos viewed in London, followed by Ebony and MILF.

To really get an idea how the tastes of porn viewers in London differ, we can can look at the relative popularity of categories when compared to visitors elsewhere. Compared to the rest of the U.K., visitors from London are proportionately 60% more likely to view the Ebony category, 54% more for Indian and 45% more for Interracial. Views of Arab and Asian videos are also more popular than elsewhere in the U.K.. We often see such increases in ethnic searches in cities which have a diverse population of immigrants.

When compared to the rest of the world, visitors from London are 701% more likely to view the British category. The Gay Bareback category is 68% more popular in London, as well as the Arab and Amateur categories.

Women account of 25% of London’s Pornhub visitors, just slightly ahead of the U.K. average of 24%. Perhaps due to the cost of living, London has a much smaller proportion of 18-24 year old visitors — only 23% compared to the U.K. average of 31%. There are however significant gains in visitors 25-34 (38% vs 30%) and 35-44 (20% vs 16%).

80% of Londoners are using mobile devices to visit Pornhub, with smartphones in particular being 8% greater than the U.K. average usage of 60%.

In this edition of Pornhub Insights, we’ve joined with Sweden’s Nyheter 24 to see how visitors from their country enjoy watching Pornhub. Over the last year we’ve looked closely at neighboring countries including Norway, Estonia and Denmark, and compared many other parts of Europe in our 2016 Year in Review.

Sweden ranks 16th worldwide for traffic to Pornhub, an impressive number when compared to their population which ranks only 90th worldwide. On average, visitors from Sweden spend 9 minutes 32 seconds on Pornhub, with 69% of visitors using mobile devices including 56% smart phones and 13% tablets. Sunday is the most popular day of the week for Swedes to visit Pornhub, and Friday has the lowest number of visitors. The most visits come in the evening between the hours of 10pm and 11pm.

Like many other countries, Swedes search more often for videos featuring their fellow countrymen than any other search term. The number one search term is “swedish”, with “swedish homemade”, “svensk”, “swedish amateur” and “swedish teen” also making the top 20.

The most popular category of video in Sweden is “Anal”, followed by other worldwide favorites like “MILF”, “Lesbian” and “Teen”.

When we compare Sweden to the rest of the world, we find that the “Anal” category is proportionately 55% more popular, “Old/Young” is 54% more popular and “Bondage” is 46% more.

We can also see what category is relatively more popular in each of Sweden’s regions, when compared to the rest of the country. In the North, “Mature” videos are more popular, along with “Hentai”. “MILF” is more popular in regions like Dalarna, Värmland and Orebro. In Västernorrland the “Big Dick” category is more popular than elsewhere in the country, and visitors from Skåne prefer “Lesbian”.

On average, visitors from Sweden spend 9 minutes and 32 seconds each time they visit Pornhub, just 4 seconds short of the world average, although some parts of Sweden tend to come and go sooner or later. Stockholm, which accounts for 33% of Sweden’s traffic, spends 5 seconds less on average. When it comes to lasting power, visitors from Dalarna manage to hold out a full 21 seconds longer than their fellow Swedes.

30% of visitors from Sweden are female, which is higher than the worldwide average of 26%. The largest age group of visitors are 25-34 making up 32%, while those over the the age of 45 only account for 29%.

Lastly, we will take a look at how holidays can affect the level of traffic from Sweden coming to Pornhub. Compared to an average day, traffic from Sweden plummets by -72% on New Year’s Eve, and -55% on Christmas Eve. Some days cause an increase in traffic such as Easter with a +7% boost and Epiphany +15% over daily averages.

For two weekends in April, over 100,000 music lovers head to Indio California for one of the greatest annual music festivals: Coachella. Indio is part of the greater Palm Springs area, and the influx of visitors causes a large increase in Pornhub Traffic over the course of just a few days.

From Friday April 14 to 16, our statisticians found an overall 8% increase in Palm Springs metro area traffic (which includes Indio and the Coachella Valley). Sunday had the largest increase of 9% above average levels. On the second weekend, traffic increased by 9% with only a 4% change on Friday but 11% on Saturday and 12% on Sunday.

During the first weekend, the largest change happened in the 25 to 34 age group with a 14% increase in traffic. At the same time, traffic from 18 to 24 and 35 to 44 year olds increased by 6%. On the second weekend, our statisticians only noticed a 5% increase in the 25 to 34 group, while 18 to 25 and 35 to 44 increased by 14% and 15% respectively.

Traffic from visitors over the age of 45 dropped significantly both weekends, suggesting that some Palm Springs Area residents may have taken their own vacation out of town, to avoid the influx of young festival goers.

Media coverage of the festival caused worldwide searches containing “coachella” to increase by 264% after the first weekend, and remained higher throughout the week. As the second weekend began, searches again increased by 172%. While “coachella” was the most popular search by volume, the second most popular was “coachella girls nude”.

From April 14 to 23, many specific searches increased dramatically across the state of California. “Music festival amateur” and “music festival girls” were up 1433% and 744% respectively. “Tent sex” went up 216%, and “festival tent” up 167% compared to daily averages. We also saw increased in “concert” (110%), “festival” (73%) and even searches for “burning man” went up 266% over the weekend. Searches for musicians like “kendrick lamar” (138%) and “lady gaga” (48%) also saw above average increases.
