The internet and digital recording has made it extraordinarily easy for the average Joe to become producer, director and porn star.  Adult content can be created and posted online for the world to see twenty four hours a day with very little censorship.  In fact, if you have a fetish for it there’s a good chance you can find it online.  I’m personally a fan of everything Big Booty or Thick, Phat Ass, Bubble Butt all day for me!

Remember the caveat: Just because you can do something doesn’t mean you should do it!

Unfortunately, the easy in which a person can create porn does nothing for the quality of the porn produced.  Let’s face it not everyone has the talent to shoot quality adult content.  I have been a customer for over twenty years and a producer for over a decade.  I consider myself to be qualified in the art of porn production.  Therefore, I am offering the following tips to all aspiring adult producers:

1. Lights: Lighting is the most important factor in producing quality photos and video. If you can’t see your subject then it is not worth shooting. If you have consumed any level of amateur porn over the years then there is a good chance you have viewed plenty of shitty video. It’s not shitty because of the performance, but because of poorly positioned or low lighting. Sunlight is the best light to shoot in because it brings out true color. Standard household lights generally will produce a yellow hue in the room and make the room look dark. Additionally, a standard light bulb does not have sufficiently wattage to produce adequate light to capture a crisp colorful image. Books have been written on this topic alone, so I won’t dive too deep into lighting. Generally, you should use 200 watt bulbs positioned in three locations, preferably in a triangular position. Finally, the light should be behind the camera, not directly in front of it.
2. Location: In the amateur world sky is the limit? Shoot wherever you want! I’m not going to talk about cleaning your room before you shoot or the quality of the hotel. Truth be told, sometimes a messy locale adds to the authenticity of the amateur niche. What I will advise about is the legality of the porn you are shooting. Believe it or not there are still backwards ass jurisdictions in America that will enforce sodomy laws and other antiquated laws that prohibit sexual performances. Yes, a blowjob and anal sex are illegal in some States. I mention this as a measure of caution. Be aware of how conservative your neighbors and/or law enforcement is and you locale.
3. Cameras: Years ago you really had to do your homework when it came to buying quality camera equipment. The main concern with standard definition cameras was light sensitivity. In today’s HD world light sensitivity is less of a concern because the average camera is so powerful. Smartphones shoot in HD and can produce better video than a camcorder sold just five years ago! My suggestion to anyone wanting to shoot amateur porn is to get the best camera you can afford. No need to break the bank.
4. Talent: If you are married or have a partner down to fuck on camera to get this porn money then you are ahead of most folks. Most aspiring producers don’t have it so easy. We have to actually find women who will perform on camera. I highly recommend that nubile producers seek performers from adult talent sites such as sexyjobs.com. Personally, I do not believe it is a good idea to solicit talent from classifieds such as Craigslist or Backpage. Do a search for “Craigslist Killer” or any other reference to Craigslist and crime…need I say more. A talent site will have performers who clearly have detailed their employment goals and availability. I also discourage the use of social media for soliciting performers. If you are familiar with “To Catch A Predator” then you know why this can be a bad idea. The only time I would use social media to find talent is if it is from a well know performer. There are plenty of strippers, models, “actresses” on Twitter, Facebook, etc… looking for gigs.   Their show media presence will allow you to see their prior work, who they worked with and how their popularity.
