Eurovision Song Contest 2021 Finale

The Eurovision Song Contest is the longest-running annual international TV song competition. Beginning in 1956, the 2021 edition marked it’s 65th year. The finale took place on Saturday May 22 in Rotterdam and ended with the victory of the Italian rock band Måneskin with the song “Zitti e Buoni”.

As the 26 performers sang and viewers from across Europe televoted for their favorites, we saw major changes to Pornhub’s normal traffic levels before, during and after the Eurovision finale show as often happens with hotly-anticipated televised events.

The following list ranks the European countries with the largest traffic drops compared to their normal traffic levels on a Saturday night. Malta, Iceland, Lithuania and Finland, with traffic levels down more than -34%, -30%, -22% and -18% below normal. Several other countries with contestants in the finale made our list, so let’s take a deeper look.

Let’s see in detail what happened in the Netherlands, the country which hosted the contest this year. Dutch traffic dropped an average of -15% during the show, and had a peak down of -22%, after the performances ended and every country started announcing their votes. Seems like people left porn behind because they where too excited to know who was going to win the competition!

We took a closer look at what happened in Italy along with Fanpage.it. Italy’s traffic dropped an average of -10% during the finale, reaching as low as -17%.

Italy held it’s breath as the super sexy Måneskin made Italy win for the first time after 30 years!

Here below you can find the list of the average traffic drop by Italian regions. Apulia preferred to give up on porn and give all the attention to Damiano and his friends, with an average traffic drop of 22%. Lazio, the region where Måneskin comes from, experienced a 13% drop compared to an average Saturday evening.

Let’s see what happened in France, as they won second place with the super charming Barbara Pravi, singing “Voilà”. French traffic dropped as low as -14% at the beginning of the show, the traffic only returned to normal time-of-day averages after the finale was over.

Let’s see what happened in the countries which took the last 2 places in the competition: Germany and the United Kingdom.

Germany experienced a traffic drop during the finale, slowly decreasing all night, reaching as low as -11% around 23h. Germany got the penultimate place with the singer Jendrik performing “I Don’t Feel Hate”.

We come now to poor James Newman, the English artist who sang “Embers” and scored zero points both from every country representatives and the televoting. Better luck next time!

U.K. traffic dropped -9% below average during the Eurovision finale, with a peak drop of -14% around 23h, before starting to rise shortly after.
