Over the last several years the Pornhub Insights team has provided a myriad of data on the United States and its 50 states but we’ve never taken a close look at the U.S. territories. Well that day has finally arrived! Today our statisticians are serving up fresh data on the porn viewing preferences of Puerto Rico, the Northern Mariana and Virgin Islands, Guam and American Samoa.
Devices & Duration
Let’s start by taking a look at how much time each territory spends on Pornhub. The average U.S. mainland visit time is 10 minutes and 37 seconds, but American Samoa’s visitors hold out an impressive 160 seconds longer at 12 minutes 17 seconds! The U.S. Virgin Islands are no virgins when it comes to Pornhub, as their visit time of 12 minutes and 7 seconds bests the mainland by 90 seconds, followed by a 50 second increase in the Northern Mariana Islands and 33 seconds in Guam. Puerto Ricans are closest to the U.S. average at 10 minutes 42 seconds.
With the exception of American Samoa, mobile device usage is higher in the territories than it is in the 50 states. Phones and tablets are used by 90% of Guam’s visitors, 92% of Puerto Rico’s and 93% of those visiting from the North Mariana Islands.
Demographics
On average, 28% of visitors from the 50 states are women but the proportion is might higher in all of the U.S. territories. Women make up 43% of visitors from American Samoa, 41% of Norther Mariana Islands and 38% of Puerto Rico’s visitors.
People over the age of 45 make up a larger proportion of visitors from the territories than the do in the 50 states. In the U.S. Virgin Islands, 45% are over 45, compared to just 33% in the mainland. 21% of visitors from American Samoa are aged 18-24 compared to an American average of just 13%. Puerto Rico has the largest proportion of 34 to 44 year olds at 24%.
Searches and Categories
Next we’ll take a look at the searches and categories that are most popular in each of the territories and compare that to the mainland U.S.
American Samoa
The most popular search terms in American Samoa are “samoan” and “samoan couple” followed by the ever-popular “lesbian”. Other regional searches include “polynesian”, “tongan” (people of the neighboring Island of Tonga) and “pacific islander”. The top categories of “Lesbian” and “MILF” are similar to the U.S. mainland, but the “Cartoon” category is proportionately 185% more popular in American Samoa, “Hardcore” is 175% more popular and “Celebrity” 144% more.
Perhaps due to the large proportion of female visitors, female favorite categories like “Hardcore”, “Pussy Licking”, “Female Orgasm” and “Romantic” are proportionately more popular in American Samoa.
Guam
Guam’s most popular search is “guam”, followed by “hentai”. Other regionally related terms include “pinay” (a Filipina woman), “chuukese” (a language spoken in Micronesia), “filipina” and “chamorro guam” (indigenous people of the Mariana Islands). The most viewed category in Guam is “Japanese”, with “Asian” proportionately being 157% more popular than the U.S. mainland, “Korean” 144% more and “Japanese” 95% more popular.
Other interesting video categories include “Muscular Men” which is proportionately 61% more popular in Guam, and “Role Play” which is 55% more popular than the mainland U.S.
Northern Mariana Islands
The most popular search terms in the Northern Mariana Islands are “guam” and “hentai”. Other regionally related terms include “saipan” (the largest of the Northern Mariana Islands), “pinay” (a Filipina woman), “chuukese” (a language spoken in Micronesia) and “filipina”. “Japanese” is the most popular category of video, while “Korean” is proportionately 158% more popular, “Czech” is 157% more and “Asian” is 149% more popular.
Other country-based categories than are relatively more popular in the Northern Mariana Islands include “British” at 80% more and “French” at 79% more. “Feet” videos are also 103% more popular when compared to mainland U.S. states.
Puerto Rico
The top searches in Puerto Rico are “lesbian” and “hentai”. Regionally related search terms include “puerto rico” and “boricua” (another name for Puerto Ricans, especially ones living in the United States). Popular video categories include “Lesbian”, “Hentai” and “Ebony”.
When compared to the U.S. mainland, the “Scissoring” category is proportionately 82% more popular in Puerto Rico, “Trans Male” is 80% more, “Fingering” is 58% more and “Trans With Girl” is 55% more popular.
U.S. Virgin Islands
The most popular search term in the U.S. Virgin Islands is “ebony” followed by “lesbian” and “bbc” (big black cock). Because 76% of the U.S. Virgin Islands population identifies as Afro-Caribbean there are many ebony and black related searches that top the list. “Ebony” videos are 71% more popular in the U.S. Virgin Islands when compare to the 50 mainland states.
Other relative categories include “Brazilian” which is 57% more popular, “Trans Male” is 37% more popular, “Euro” 34% more and “Interracial” 29% more popular.
