Here we go again with the 73rd edition of the Italian music festival, Sanremo! On Tuesday, February 7th, the first five-night run of the famous Italian music events took place, hosted this year by Amadeus and Gianni Morandi and co-hosted, during the first night, with Chiara Ferragni.
So, we joined our friends at Rolling Stone Italy to check what happened on Pornhub.
The first night share was the highest the festival has ever experienced since ’95, with 62.4% share, with almost 11 million viewers, and reflected in the traffic change on Pornhub.
Our statisticians discovered that compared to an average day, Italy’s traffic started to drop shortly after 7 p.m., likely because people were starting to prepare for the live show.
As soon as the festival started, the traffic suddenly dropped, with the most significant drop around 11 p.m.(-17%) while the Pooh, the guest stars of the first night, were doing their exhibition. At the same time, Ligury (the region that hosts the music festival) experienced a -20% drop.
After that, the traffic began to rise slowly back to average levels around midnight. Once the show ended, there was an increase of +7% over the usual traffic.
We have kept a close eye on what happens to our traffic during Sanremo since 2017, and this year’s traffic drop is the biggest we have ever experienced on the first night! (Last year, during the same night, we experienced a -3.8%).
Looking at the individual Italian regions, we can see that the ones that experienced the largest drop are Friuli-Venezia Giulia (-15%), Ligury (-13%) and Campania (-11%).

Martedì 7 Febbraio è andata in onda la prima serata della 73esima edizione di Sanremo, condotta per il quarto anno consecutivo da Amadeus, quest’anno accompagnato da Gianni Morandi e, ieri sera, da Chiara Ferragni.
Gli ascolti sono stati di 10 milioni e 757 mila spettatori e lo share, 62,4%, è il più alto registrato dal ’95.
Proprio per questo, abbiamo dato un’occhiata al traffico sul nostro sito insieme ai nostri amici di Rolling Stone Italy.
Nel grafico qui sopra possiamo osservare l’andamento del traffico in Italia e in Liguria proprio durante le ore della prima serata.
Dopo le 19, il flusso inizia a scendere lentamente, e in maniera sempre più significativa mano a mano che si avvicina l’inizio dello show.
Si registra poi il maggior calo del traffico su Pornhub, -17%, alle ore 23:00, durante l’esibizione dei super ospiti della serata, i Pooh. Nello stesso momento, in Liguria il traffico tocca il -20%.
Dopo le 23 gli accessi ricominciano ad aumentare lentamente, tornando ai livelli usuali intorno all’1 di notte. Alle 2 circa, una volta finita la prima serata, il traffico non solo torna alla normalità, ma tocca un +7% rispetto alla media, segno che gli italiani dopo le esibizioni hanno deciso di fare un salto su Pornhub.
Teniamo d’occhio il flusso sul nostro sito durante Sanremo dal 2017, e non si è mai verificata una diminuzione degli accessi così significativa durante la prima serata come quella di quest’anno (l’anno scorso, nella stessa sera, la perdita di traffico era stata del 3,8%).
Guardando invece cos’è successo nelle singole regioni, osserviamo che, oltre alla già citata Liguria (-13%), la diminuzione media di traffico ha interessato maggiormente il Friuli-Venezia Giulia (-15%) e la Campania (-11%).
